Hello, my name is Mackenzie Akin. I'm a student at Texas State University. I started school as a psychology major but soon switched my major to journalism. After working as a music journalist at my campus radio station, I grew a newfound love for writing. I kept psychology as my minor because I found the classes fasinating.
Ironic enough, I took a newspaper class in highschool and I hated it! I hated it so much that I never completed any of my work and almost failed the elective. Highschool me would be shocked to learn that I'm basically majoring in newspaper. Life is funny that way. I'm excited to see all of the other surprising things my future has in store.
Texas State is very special to me because both my mom and my dad attended this school. My mom loves to visit campus and show me all of the places she used to hang out. I think it's so cool that I can sit in a lecture hall and possibly be sitting in the same chair my mom or dad sat in when they attended. I feel very lucky to recieve a college education. My time at Texas State has been some of the best years of my life!
